Live Music: Tom Catmull

Friday August 24, 2018
5:30pm to 8:30pm

Maryhill Spokane Tasting Room, 1303 W Summit Parkway, Suite 100, Spokane, WA 99201

Join us in the tasting room for live music by The Ronaldos from 5:30PM-8:30PM.

Tom Catmull is a word enthusiast, for lack of a better term. They are the larger part of what makes his world go round. He’s spent the last twenty years attempting to present words in ways that make them as alluring as possible to people who crave such things (and musically “ambushing” those who do not.). The tricks used to this end include melody, arrangement, storytelling, some pre-arranged musical traditions, and a clean shirt. He finds the process of lining up all these shiny, pretty things ridiculously satisfying. His “world-go-round” currently includes seven full-length albums, a growing stack of plastic framed “Best Musician in Missoula” endorsements, a few television appearances, theaters performances, countless honkytonks and one national anthem. There is an alarming amount of confidence that this Americana dog and pony show is worthy of your time. But don’t be fooled, The acoustic guitar and harmonica are just a ploy to get the words out in front of you. Focus in, if the room allows. You’ll be happy you did.

Live Music: Mel Peterson Collective

Sunday July 22, 2018
1:00pm to 5:00pm

Maryhill Winery, 9774 Hwy 14, Goldendale, WA 98620

Enjoy live music on our popular vine-covered terrace every summer weekend, Memorial Day through September, from 1pm-5pm by some of the best performers in the Pacific Northwest.

The band formed when vocalist Mel Peterson, a South Carolina native transplanted to Ellensburg, met local keyboardist Ben Macy at a jazz jam. Connecting over their shared love of Soul, Motown, and Jazz music, Ben and Mel got a few of their friends together and started playing wineries and parties all over the valley, much to the delight of music lovers everywhere.

Melany Peterson grew up listening to Roberta Flack, Dionne Warrick, Jerry Butler, Isaac Hayes, Aretha Franklin and many other Gospel, Jazz and R & B artists who shaped her musical style. Now, she is one part of the Cooke Canyon Duo which performs a fusion of contemporary-pop, jazz standards and rhythm and blues classics. Melany’s interest in singing took flight at the age of 12 singing in her hometown church in Charleston, SC. There she would often be caught alone playing the piano and singing some of her favorite tunes by Roberta Flack. Melany often reflects back to her favorite artist, Roberta Flack to whom she owes a lot of her sultry vocals and singing style. Yet, remaining true to her own vocal styling, she coins herself as the “Song Bird of the South”.

Live Music: Fox & Bones

Sunday July 1, 2018
1:00pm to 5:00pm

Maryhill Winery, 9774 Hwy 14, Goldendale, WA 98620

Enjoy live music on our popular vine-covered terrace every summer weekend, Memorial Day through September, from 1pm-5pm by some of the best performers in the Pacific Northwest.

Fox and Bones is a conceptual folk-pop collaboration between American songwriters Sarah Vitort and Scott Gilmore based in Portland, Oregon. The internationally touring folk-pop duo combines lush harmonies and a complex, heartwarming lyrical landscape with sometimes soft-spoken, sometimes driving musical accompaniment. They’ve been called "addictive like peanut butter" by European music blog Rockette and were voted runner-up for Portland’s Best Folk band by Willamette Week in 2017.

Vienna Wurstelstand gushes: "These two will lull you with their sweet and delicate melodies and woo you with their complex lyrics. Recommended if you like making out slowly"

Following the release of their folksy conceptual LP "The Remarkable Adventures Of" in early 2017, the pair unleashed a new power folk-pop single, titled "Love Me Like a River", on October 6th to critical acclaim. Glide Magazine says the song "reflects the prowess of Hozier with Fleetwood Mac pop overtones that make for a modern day power folk duo." Vortex Magazine chimes in, "While their voices once again cradle and complement one another, there’s also a surging energy pushing their emotive flood forward on 'Love Me Like A River.'"

Perhaps Luke Neill of Portland Radio Project sums it up best. "These two voices meld so perfectly together that you never want to stop listening."

SPOKANE TASTING ROOM

Live Music: Lyle Morse

Sunday July 29, 2018
4:00pm to 7:00pm

Maryhill Spokane Tasting Room, 1303 W Summit Parkway, Suite 100, Spokane, WA 99201

Join us in the tasting room for live music by Lyle Morse, aka "Lonesome" Lyle from 4:00PM-7:00PM.

Lyle Morse, also known as "Lonesome Lyle" is an outstanding acoustic guitarist, harmonica player and singer-songwriter who calls Eastern Washington state his home. Lyle has been refining his musical vision and talents over a number of decades, and currently entertains in countless acoustic music friendly coffee houses, bistros, restaurants, street fairs, resorts, theaters, wineries and folk and arts festivals throughout Washington, Idaho and Montana. His music has been highlighted, and performed live on National Public Radio affiliates as well as commercial and college radio programs featuring blues, folk and original music. He has also performed on network television and cable TV.

Purely because he finds the music so expressive, moving and profound, Lyle concentrates his energies on acoustic blues music, but does venture into other forms of American roots music. Lyle's primary "soul shadows" and musical influences have been Robert Johnson, Big Bill Broonzy, Muddy Waters and contemporary blues artists Keb Mo, Eric Bibb and Guy Davis. Lyle's sound is "groove-based" and other influences include British blues, the Chicago blues stylists, Detroit soul/rhythm & blues, country blues, jazz and folk music. Great blues music is found in a wide variety of musical contexts, and Lyle has incorporated this music into his performances. His arrangements are original, inventive and moving.

Lyle has recorded 7 compact discs, and offers his music for sale at his appearances, and on-line at CD Baby, ITunes, Amazon.com and many other commercial/digital/streaming outlets. You can also find him on Facebook and watch video and audio content on his YouTube channel.
