Join Maryhill for the Saint Martin's Gala: China, a black-tie evening affair featuring an exquisitely prepared five-course dinner, cooking demonstrations with celebrity chef Ming Tsai, and a live auction benefiting Saint Martin’s student scholarships. This year's theme also highlights Saint Martin's many relationships and programs in China, including sister universities in Beijing, Shanghai and Inner Mongolia. As the exclusive wine sponsor, our partnership with the 2016 Saint Martin's University Gala helped raise more than $1.1 million in student scholarships.
Celebrity chef: Ming Tsai
Boston-based, James Beard Award-winner Ming Tsai opened his first restaurant, Blue Ginger in 1998 and his second restaurant, the tapas-style Blue Dragon, in 2013. He hosted his first show, "East Meets West with Ming Tsai", on the Food Network. His current show, the Emmy-nominated "Simply Ming", is currently in its thirteenth season on PBS. Ming traveled to the 2008 Beijing Olympics to report on the food traditions that define his Chinese heritage.
Ming studied mechanical engineering at Yale University but spent his summers in Paris at Le Cordon Bleu cooking school. After Yale, he moved to Osaka to train with Sushi Master Kobayashi. He later returned to the United States and earned a master’s degree in hotel administration and hospitality marketing at Cornell University.
