2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Reviewed by Great Northwest Wine

Nov 24, 2014

Great Northwest Wine has reviewed Maryhill Winery 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon and has rated it Excellent!

The Yakima Valley branch of the Tudor family, deeply rooted in Southern California’s wine industry for a century, is burnishing its reputation for quality grape growing in Washington state, and Tudor Hills Vineyard fruit is taking on a larger role at Maryhill. It dominates this spicy, chocolaty and dark Cabernet Sauvignon from Richard Batchelor, who used a program of 50% new oak. Those barrels create fun aromas of gingersnap cookie and cocoa powder along with blackberry, dark raspberry and crushed herbs. Flavors rum the gamut of black currant, boysenberry, Western serviceberry and brown sugar, while the structure is balanced with a long finish of mocha, vanilla bean and black licorice. Suggested pairings include gyros, lamb, prime rib and Chocolate Lava Cake.
