2011 Sangiovese Reviewed by Great Northwest Wine

Oct 13, 2014

Great Northwest Wine has reviewed Maryhill Winery 2011 Sangiovese and has rated it Outstanding!

The Leutholds have a delicious tradition of award-winning work with Italian varieties, including a double gold with their 2010 Barbera at last year’s Indy International Wine Competition. Their latest edition with Sangiovese from nearby Gunkel Vineyard (69%) and Yakima Valley sites Tudor and Elephant Mountain also is generating some buzz. It ushers out aromas of Chelan cherry and peach with touches of fresh oregano, vanilla, brown sugar and tapioca. That cherry theme carries through with more bright notes of pomegranate and red currant. It’s a rich drink containing a nice grip of tannin. Suggested pairings include barbecue shrimp, Chicken Marsala and Fettuccine Alfredo.
