The Leuthold Family
On
October 11, 2000, with twenty years combined experience in the wine
industry, the husband and wife team of Craig and Victoria Leuthold,
along with family partners Don Leuthold and Cherie Brooks, broke ground
on the site where Maryhill Winery now proudly stands.
Craig and Vicki's passion for wine, family, and beauty have all contributed to the uniqueness of their winery. Together the family envisioned a true destination winery with unsurpassed natural scenery, food and entertainment to complement the spectacular vintages they would produce.
The view of Mount Hood and the Columbia River Gorge from their expansive arbor, the moderate winters and long hot summers, were all huge factors in their instant success. To be able to deliver the highest quality wines at the lowest price was the goal. With the combination of experience, location and a little serendipity, the Leutholds reached their goal, delivering award-winning wines, along with the ultimate get away experience.
Craig Larson - Winemaker

Craig Larson joined the Maryhill Winery as Head Winemaker in the summer of 2006. With an extensive background in the winemaking industry, and also as a Sommelier, Craig is a valuable asset to the Maryhill
Winery team.
Growing up in the city of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, Craig began his life-long love affair with wine. In the mid 1990’s, he left a career behind to pursue his dream of becoming a winemaker. He began at the beginning, working in the cellars of various Washington State Wineries, learning as he went and honing his skills with some of the area’s most respected winemakers.
Starting in the cellars of Covey Run Winery, within a year he was Cellar master at Paul Thomas Winery and then became the Assistant Winemaker at Washington Hills Cellars.
In order to expand his knowledge of world wines, Craig took a position as Wine Director and Sommelier at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel California. This exciting opportunity exposed him to more fine wines than most could ever dream about and reaffirmed his desire to produce the highest quality wines when he returned to the production end in 2002.
From the vineyard to the cellar, from the dining room of a renowned hotel to the winemaker’s lab, Craig has brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to Maryhill Winery. He credits his winemaking ability to a combination of science, palate, patience and most importantly, passion. By combining his respect for ‘old world traditions’ with ‘new world’ techniques, Craig Larson will work together with owners Craig and Vicki Leuthold to continue and build upon the respected Maryhill Winery name for vintages to come.
