Spokane: First Friday feat. Bob Davis

Date: Fri, May 3, 2019
Time 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Venue: Spokane Tasting Room

Join us on the first Friday of every month for our Downtown Spokane First Friday reception from 5pm-8pm. Maryhill will be featuring different artists each month in our tasting room. This month we are featuring Bob Davis.

Bob is a professional sculptor living in Castle Rock, WA. He gets his inspiration from growing up in Wine Country, California and occasionally other parts of nature he sees around him. Bob strives to bring the wonders of the the natural world to the public in the form of art.

He first started copper sculptures in 2009 when his job in construction afforded him the ability to collect large amounts of electrical wire during demolitions.

Using these repurposed materials he brings the beauty of nature to life. The hand twisted copper wire most commonly takes the form of weathered vines and bark with all its imperfections and the heat or patina treatment adding realistic color variations. The copper leaves are hand cut and patinaed to imitate the varietals frequently used in wine production. The grapes too are repurposed, hand-lathed, wine corks. They are then dyed to the shade of the individual varietal he has chosen to make. The backbone of his wine art, the barrel ends, rings and staves are all collected from local sources. Bob truly delights in being The Barrel’s End.
